While the referendum process was built for everyday Californians, it has been hijacked by industry bullies. That’s why today, we celebrate AB 421 passing out of the Assembly, because these common sense changes will ensure our democracy empowers everyday people by making the referendum processes both more transparent and accessible. Far too many times, corporations have spent their millions to essentially veto any new law they deem a threat to their plentiful profits.
