In response to President Biden calling for an increase in oil and gas production, Anusha Narayanan, climate campaign director at Greenpeace USA said:

“Increasing oil and gas production will not lower prices at the pump. We are already producing more oil and gas than ever before and are still seeing record-high gasoline prices. If this was a production issue, we wouldn’t be here in the first place. Big Oil has reached Scrooge McDuck levels of greed as they fleece everyday people in the name of gargantuan profits, bigger CEO bonuses, and shareholder payouts. President Biden is right to go after this greed. However, he needs to stop falling for this false choice between a healthy economy and a healthy planet because fossil fuels give us neither. The answer to high gasoline prices is boosting clean, renewable energy, which reduces demand and gets more people in a position where they never have to rely on the volatile and destructive oil and gas industry again.”
