Climate strikes have recently happened in several countries, including the Philippines. One was held on Friday, May 24, 2019 in Plaza Rizal, Tacloban City, made possible by the Young Leaders for Environmental Action Federation (YLEAF), and Waste 360.

We were inspired by the person who started it all, Greta Thunberg – a young Swedish girl who started protests in her country until she influenced the youth around the world.

During the protest, students and teachers from STEFTI also took part in the event. They made placards and showed it on the streets, they also sent a letter to the Vice Mayor of Tacloban about the situation.

Like Greta Thunberg, as youth, we must be cautious about these dangerous things that cause pollution and climate change. Just because we are young doesn’t mean we can’t make a change.

Why be part of the pollution if we can be part of the solution? Since the planet is changing, why don’t we? These are the questions that we should ask ourselves, question that relate to the current situation of our planet nowadays. We must take action now because if not now, then when? And if not us, then who?
