Job Title: Project Digital Lead – Islam & Climate
Organisation: Greenpeace Middle East & North Africa (GP MENA)
Reports to: Programme Manager – Project Leader
Contract Duration: 3 years project with a review after 1 year based on project performance
Location: Any country within the MENA region


PROJECT’S SCOPE

The Islam & Climate project is an innovative and experimental endeavor aimed at contributing to the creation of a climate movement in the Muslim world by exploring Islam as a vector of engagement and mobilsation. The project will be implemented by a number of Greenpeace offices, Muslim organisations, and other allies.

OVERALL PURPOSE

The overall purpose of this role is to lead on the development, coordination, and implementation of an effective digital engagement strategy to achieve the Islam & Climate project objectives and ensure maximum impact. The job holder will need to provide guidance and support to the project’s external allies and other Greenpeace offices globally to ensure consistency across digital engagement efforts in order to realize the project’s objectives. 

SCOPE

The post holder is line managed by the Project Leader and will support the delivery of the overall Islam & Climate project whilst specifically leading the development of the global digital engagement strategy for the project and ensuring its effective implementation in GP MENA, whilst also working with the project’s stakeholders in Greenpeace International, other Greenpeace offices and ally organisations to realize the projects digital engagement objectives and curate a vibrant digital community around it.

The responsibilities require considerable independence and initiative from the post holder. Decisions made by the post holder will impact the overall success of the global project.

RESPONSIBILITIES

PROJECT DIGITAL ENGAGEMENT STRATEGY Lead on the development and coordination of the project’s global digital engagement strategy with our external allies and digital officers from other Greenpeace offices. Support other Greenpeace offices in developing their digital engagement strategies as well as developing the regional engagement and digital strategy for Greenpeace MENA.

IMPLEMENTATION Lead on the implementation of the project’s regional digital engagement strategy for Greenpeace MENA. Coordinate and provide support and guidance to other Greenpeace offices and our external allies in implementing jointly agreed digital engagement strategies and plans.

GREENPEACE MENA COORDINATION Support the successful delivery of the Islam & Climate project, working with the other team members to achieve the overall theory of change. Coordinate with Greenpeace MENA communications and the digitaldepartment to ensure smooth and coordinated usage of Greenpeace MENA channels and resources and alignment with Greenpeace MENA objectives. Coordinate additionally with the communication and digital departments of other involved Greenpeace offices.

ANALYSIS Carry out periodical analysis of the digital engagement strategies implementation and capitalise on learning to optimize performance. Develop, implement and maintain reports across all types of engagement data.

RESEARCH Conduct on-going research into emerging technologies, trends, methods, platforms and software solutions. Understand the emergence of new products or business processes which may be of benefit to the project from a digital engagement perspective.

KEY INFLUENCERS Secure the support of digital key influencers in the implementation of the digital engagement strategy and coordinate their participation in order to boost the project’s impact and achieve its objectives.  

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE

Experience:

  • A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in guiding digital engagement strategy development, preferably with global and/or regional experience
  • A proven track record of developing & delivering successful digital engagement strategies including the ability to formulate and implement a digital engagement strategy within complex teams.
  • A proven track record in carrying efficient and clear digital engagement performance analysis
  • A track record of working with digital key influencers to drive successful campaigns

Organizational Competencies

  • Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships, in particular working with cross-cultural and global teams and those in external organisations.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and instill passion
  • Project management and the ability to coordinate with other organisations
  • Highly developed analytical, planning and reporting skills.
  • Highly experienced with segmentation and data management.
  • Innovative and creative
  • Autonomous, flexible and agile.
  • Knowledge sharing – Values diversity, in particular, experience in working in an international environment and coordination of rollouts across global markets.

Functional Competencies

  • Fluent written and spoken Arabic and English
  • Good verbal and written communications skills
  • A good understanding of the MENA region and of the Islam faith & culture
  • French and additional languages are a plus
