OVERALL PURPOSE

This position focuses on timely and accurate accounting entries while working to ensure the financial operation is carried out effectively and efficiently. It also involves being the point of contact for all employees, offering administrative support, and handling all purchase inquiries.  The post-holder will process all purchase invoices, expense claims, and payments according to Greenpeace (GP) procedures and policies to help maintain cost control and efficient operation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Accounting:
  2. Accounts Payable: receive, execute, check, and record payments of purchases,  salaries, and expense claims in line with GP MENA (expenditure) policies and procedures, and after approval, ensure correct and timely pay-outs, that are compliant with procedures and authorities.
  3. Accounts Receivable: prepare and record monthly to achieve correct and timely registration and allocation of incoming payments.
  4. Banking Process: ensure accurate processing of financial transactions in the banking system; payments and data from new suppliers are entered into the system. Additionally, administration of foreign and local currency in bank accounts is carried out, and regular bank account summaries are produced.
  5. Provide all the data requested for the budget preparation Maintain and update the Fixed Asset records of GP MENA
  6. Petty cash: make cash payments
  7. Check and process the petty cash records of GP MENA, process records and recharges,  and execute various other financial accounting and administrative tasks to ensure accurate administration of financial transactions
  8. Support and provide necessary data and documents for the year-end audit
  9. Ensure full compliance with all statutory regulations audits and tax requirements
  10. Organize proper and timely filing of all relevant invoices and accounting documentation
  • Administration
  • Handle GP MENA purchase requests and travel arrangements
  • Monitor and maintain office equipment and inventory supplies; order replacement supplies as needed
  • Prepare reports on expenses, office budgets, and other expenditures
  • Oversee expense reports and budgets for staff traveling
  • Coordinate building and maintenance issues for general repair (heating and air conditioning, security, etc.) and cleaning together with the logistical team of the rented location
  • Organizes logistics of special functions and social events

OTHER: Any other duty, as appropriate to the post and as delegated by your line manager.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field

Experience & Skills

  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant, proven experience, preferably in the non-profit sector
  • Professional certification such as Certified Accounting Technician (CAT), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Chartered Accountant (CA) is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles
  • Experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial administration
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and the Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information
