عمّان، الأردن – الخميس 28 نوفمبر، ضمن الاستعدادات الأخيرة للحفل الموسيقي لنشطاء السلام الأخضر مع فرقة أوتوستراد بعمّان، فوجئ المنظمون بمعرفة أن وزارة الداخلية الأردنية قامت بمخاطبة الجهات المسؤولة لإيقاف استعدادات الحفل وإجبارهم على إلغائه.
نظم نشطاء السلام الأخضر الحفل الموسيقي المجاني بالتعاون مع فرقة أوتوستراد التي تحظى بشعبية في الأردن، من أجل إظهار التنامي الشعبي للحراك الأردني ضد الطاقة النووية ومن أجل الطاقة المتجددة.
بدأ الأمر بزيارة تهديدية لمكان تنظيم الحفل بواسطة رجلي أمن بينما كان يتم تحضير المسرح، تبع زيارتهم السريعة عدة مكالمات من وزارة الداخلية للنشطاء المتطوعين لدفعهم لإلغاء الحفل وصرف النظر عن الفكرة، وحين تم سؤالهم عن سبب هذا الموقف الحاد المعارض بدون تنبيه مسبق، لم يُعطى المنظمون أي إجابة، وبعد عدة مطالبات بمعرفة السبب تم إبلاغ المنظمين أن منظمة السلام الأخضر ليست مسجلة “تماماً” في الأردن.
بعدئذ طولِبت صفاء الجيوسي مسؤولة الحملات في السلام الأخضر – البحر المتوسط بالتوجه لوزارة الداخلية للقاء عاجل. وبعد نقاش تم مطالبتها بإلغاء الحدث.
خلال الاجتماع أظهر مسؤولو الوزارة أنهم تلقوا طلباً من هيئة الطاقة الذرية الأردنية توجه فيه السلطات لإيقاف خطط الحفل “بأي ثمن”. وأُخبِرت الجيوسي في وزارة الداخلية أن مشكلتها ليست مع الوزارة لكن مع هيئة الطاقة الذرية نفسها. ولا يوجد ما يمكن عمله لإلغاء هذا القرار.
وبرغم المجهودات الاستثنائية التي بذلت لعرقلة الحدث، إلا أن الحفل الموسيقي ضد الطاقة النووية سار كما هو مخطط له. وما كان ذلك ليتم لولا التدخلات التي تمت في اللحظات الأخيرة من شخصيات سياسية مؤثرة وأحد أعضاء البرلمان الرافضين للمشروع.
المضايقات والترهيب الذي واجهه نشطاء السلام الأخضر بشكل غير مسبوق هو أمر غير مقبول تحت أي مسمى. لم يكن هذا الحدث هو الأول من نوعه، فقام النشطاء بتنظيم العديد من الفعاليات ضد البرنامج النووي كالاعتصامات والتظاهرات السلمية خلال الثلاث أعوام الماضية دون أي اعتراض.
نتساءل منذ متى يتم تدخل طرف ثالث لتوجيه وزارة الداخلية لإلغاء فعاليات مماثلة؟ نشطاء السلام الأخضر يستخدمون حقهم لإظهار آراءهم عن المستقبل الأفضل للأردن، ويهتم نشطاء السلام الأخضر بأردن خالي من النووي من أجل الدفع لمصادر طاقة بديلة بكل الوسائل المتحضرة بما فيها الموسيقى.
لا يوجد شك أن الصناعة النووية في الأردن أغلقت كل أبواب الحوار. وأظهرت بوضوح أنه لم يعد بإمكانهم تحمل النقد العام والمعارضة. وأعطت هيئة الطاقة الذرية الأردنية الأولوية لسياسة غير فعالة ومؤكد فشلها من تكميم الأفواه والترهيب لتحقيق أهدافهم. إن غياب الشفافية في البرنامج النووي الأردني يظهر بهذا المثال حاجتنا للمضي قدماً بعيداً عن الخيار النووي والدفع تجاه 100٪ طاقة متجددة.

Amman, Jordan – On Thursday November 28, As final preparations for a concert with a cause were underway, organizers were suddenly forced to come to a grinding halt. Greenpeace volunteers in collaboration with Autostrad, the much-loved local Jordanian band, were organizing a free concert to demonstrate the growing popularity of Jordan’s anti-nuclear movement and to push for renewable energy.
Volunteer organizers were surprised to learn that the Ministry of Interior had mobilized authorities to halt all preparations and force them to cancel the event. It all started with an intimidating visit by two policemen to the private venue, as the stage was being erected. Their visit was quickly followed by several phone calls from the Ministry of Interior to volunteer organizers instructing them to “give up and let go”. When asked why they were facing such harsh opposition without any prior notice, organizers were given no valid reasons. After repeated requests, organizers were informed that Greenpeace is not a fully registered organization in Jordan. Even though registration has been in the works for quite sometime now.
Afterwards, Greenpeace Mediterranean Campaigner in the Arab world Safa Al Jayoussi, was asked to go down to the Ministry of Interior for an urgent meeting. And after intimidating discussion with no breakthrough insight, Al Jayoussi was asked to cancel the event.
During the meting, Ministry officials revealed that they had received a request from the Jordan Atomic Energy Commission (JAEC) instructing authorities to stop the planned evening concert “at all costs”. Al Jayoussi was told that her “problem does not lie with the Ministry but rather the JAEC itself” and that “there is nothing that could be done to reverse this decision”.
Despite of the targeted and extraordinary efforts that tried to derail the event, the anti-nuclear concert went ahead as planned. That was only possible with last minute interventions by several political players as well as a current Member of Parliament who are against the project.
The relentless harassment and intimidation faced by Greenpeace activists is unprecedented and is unacceptable under any circumstances. This organized event was not the first of its kind; in fact, activists have been opposing the nuclear program with peaceful rallies, protests and sit-ins for the past three years, without any objection.
Since when does a third party have the right to request the Ministry of Interior to cancel such an event? Greenpeace activists were simply exercising their right to voice their opinion with the future and well being of Jordan in mind, Greenpeace activists cares about having a nuclear free Jordan and pushing for alternatives through all tools including music.
There is no doubt the atomic industry in Jordan has closed all doors for diplomacy and discussion. It has made it absolutely clear that it would no longer tolerate public concern and opposition. The JAEC has prioritized the ineffective, sure-to-fail policy of oppression and intimidation to achieve its goals. The lack of transparency surrounding the Jordanian nuclear program, as illustrated, is the exact reason why we should keep away from nuclear energy and push for a 100% Renewable Future..
