عمان، 30 أكتوبر 2013، ردا على قرار الحكومة الأردنية لمنح الشركة الروسية “روساتوم” المملوكة من قبل الدولة الروسية امتياز لبناء محطتين نوويتين بقدرة 1،000 ميجاوات قالت صفاء الجيوسي مسؤولة حملات المناخ والطاقة في الوطن العربي لدى منظمة السلام الأخضر البحر المتوسط.
“الطاقة المتجددة هي سبيلنا للتقدم. فالطاقة النووية لن تبني مستقبلنا الاقتصادي ولن تمنحنا الاستدامة في الطاقة. هذا القرار هو سوء تقدير، ونحن رأينا ما حدث في فوكوشيما، لا يمكننا السماح بتكرار ذلك في الأردن. ونحن لا نتحدّث فقط عن استنزاف المياه في الأردن الذي يعاني من شحّ المياه ولا عن التبعات البيئية الضخمة التي تصاحب هذا المشروع “.
وأضافت الجيوسي “السلام الأخضر تدعو الحكومة الأردنية إلى التخلي عن هذا الخطط قبل فوات الأوان، يمكن أن نعتمد على الطاقة المتجددة بنسبة 100٪ بحلول عام 2050 إذا بدأنا الآن، المعلومات من المسؤولين أمس بشأن الأثر البيئي دون وجود أي تقييم سليم للأثر البيئي هي معلومات مضللة”
وأنهت صفاء الجيوسي حديثها “إن انعدام الشفافية إلى جانب قلة الخبرة لدى هيئة الطاقة الذرية الأردنية هو أمر مرفوض، والتكنولوجيا AES-92 من شركة اتوم ستروي اكسبورت لم تعمل في أي مكان من قبل[1]. نحن نعلم أن هذا النظام كان قد تم الاتفاق على بناءه لموقع كودانكولام في الهند عام 1998، وكان من المتوقع بدء عمله في نهاية عام 2012 بعد مرحلة بناء طويلة ومعقدة. حكومتنا قد تجهل حقيقة أن AES-92 لم يتم بنائه أو تشغيله في روسيا أو أي مكان آخر من قبل كما لم يتم بيعه لأي جهة كانت. وليس من الواضح ماهي إجراءات السلامة المتبعة في المحطة الهندية أو من الذي قيّم مطابقته لشروط السلامة هناك.”

Greenpeace statement on Jordanian decision to hand nukes deal to Russia
Amman, 30 October 2013, Reacting to the Jordanian government’s decision to award Russian state-owned firm Rosatom the tender to construct two 1,000-megawatt (MW) nuclear power .Safa’ Al Jayoussi Greenpeace Mediterranean Climate & energy campaigner said:
“Renewables are the way to go. Nuclear has no place in our economy and our future. This decision is ill-conceived; we saw what happened in Fukushima and we cannot let this happen in Jordan. Apart from the lack of water resources for such a consuming project, the true costs on our environment are immense”.
“Greenpeace is calling the government of Jordan to abandon these plans before it’s too late we can achieve 100% renewable energy by 2050 if we start now, and the information from officials yesterday regarding the environmental impact without having any proper Environmental Impact Assessment is misleading “, added Al Jayoussi.
“The lack of transparency coupled with the ignorance from the Jordan atomic energy commission is unacceptable, the AES92 technology from the Atomstroyexport company has not worked anywhere [1]. We know that the only order for such a design was for the Indian Kudankulam site in 1998 and was expected to start at end of 2012 albeit after a prolonged and problematic construction phase”.
“It is concerning that our government has ignored the fact that the AES-92 has neither been built in Russia and has not been sold elsewhere and never been operated before. It is not clear what safety review was carried out for the plants in India and by whom.” Safa’ Al Jayousi concluded.
