PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The Digital Campaigner is responsible for building the web presence of Greenpeace in the Arab world through creating web content, web marketing, cooperation with external websites, recruiting and engaging online members, cultivating active online community, in order to help Greenpeace achieve its organizational and campaign objectives.

The Digital Campaigner will actively collaborate with fellow team members working on the Programme’s Campaigns, Communications and Engagement. The Arab world team focuses on online campaign work and digital engagement, profiling and building on offline activities delivered to support the digital campaign. The work is also enriched with online support to Greenpeace global campaign work. We are looking for someone who can grasp the issues, spot opportunities, and support the mobilization of our supporters to intervene in the most dynamic and important debates of our time: the Climate and the Environment.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Create professional, engaging and creative content (text and visual) for websites and other online communications channels and social media platforms to communicate Greenpeace’s mission, vision and campaigns.
  2. Assist in the development of a professional and user-friendly Greenpeace Arabic website (greenpeacearabic.org) and online communications tools (e.g. e-newsletter) in accordance with the organizational branding strategy and best practices in the web industry.
  3. Offer strategic advice and execute plans on how to use the Greenpeace website, external websites and online channels and tools (e.g. e-newsletter, social media platforms) to help achieve organizational and campaign objectives, with emphasis on building public support for the organization.
  4. Develop and implement marketing plans to increase Greenpeace’s web presence in order to increase brand recognition of Greenpeace, inspire public to support Greenpeace and its campaigns; create qualitative and quantitative key performance indicators for web marketing plans.
  1. Offer strategic advice, develop and implement plans to build active Greenpeace online community, which include recruitment of new online supporters, cultivate relationship with existing online supporters and engaging supporters in Greenpeace campaign and fundraising initiatives.
  2. Manage online supporters and volunteers database, in accordance with the best segmentation and relationship building practices; empower and engage online volunteers to contribute to our online campaigns.
  3. Monitor and analyze recruitment and engagement response rates and adapt tools and techniques to increase audience reach & conversion rates

 

  1. Build and contribute to Greenpeace presence on social media including regular updates and personal communications with followers

 

  1. Work with agencies, designers and IT experts to produce online content, creative, tools and database for campaigning, fundraising and public engagement purposes.
  2. Collect and analyze research information related to web trends, digital marketing and user experience etc., to ensure that Greenpeace Arabic operates in parallel with on going developments within the digital industry in the Arab world and globally.
  3. Liaise with digital staff in Greenpeace International and other Greenpeace offices.
  4. May supervise Interns, external consultants based on the requirements of projects.
  5. Might have to line manage digital staff shall the operations of the Arab world expand in future
  6. Perform other duties as assigned by the line manager.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Communications, Digital Marketing or equivalent industry experience
  2. Demonstrated a minimum of 5 years experience in related industry, with clear success

COMPETENCIES:

  • Proven track record of solid experience in web content management, digital marketing, and/or developing online communities.
  • Excellent Arabic writing skills.
  • Creative and strategic communications skills.
  • Knowledge of Internet culture and close familiarity with the tools and landscape of the digital world.
  • Knowledge and experience of web design, HTML, CSS, Javascript, RSS, and other relevant web technologies.
  • Knowledge of web usability, web marketing and search engine optimization technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience in IT support field is preferable.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and to meet tight deadlines, including a flexible mindset regarding working hours

Work environment

  • The position works in an office environment, and is required to travel to other Greenpeace offices, campaign locations or locations where environmental problems require the presence of Greenpeace representatives
  • The position may also be required to work under pressure and in physically or mentally challenging situations.
