Environmental Justice

Climate change is a global reality, yet its consequences impact the population unequally. Environmental issues such as floods, air and water pollution, and landslides, threaten everyone’s lives.

But vulnerable communities are particularly at risk because they often lack the resources and infrastructure to effectively respond to and recover from these disasters. And that’s why we need to talk about environmental justice!

The problem

We are experiencing a climate emergency!

The impacts of global warming, driven mainly by human action, have never been so evident. Reports from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warn us that extreme weather phenomena are rapidly worsening, increasing in intensity and frequency.

Damage caused to some ecosystems and communities are already irreversible. We are not prepared for the consequences that are happening today, in addition to the immense loss of biodiversity, this is costing lives.

What we do

We work to amplify voices of communities most exposed to climate change. Solutions need to be worked on together, to ensure a space for people in decision-making processes. With it, we can demand governments and decision-makers to implement urgent, effective measures that prevent new tragedies.

People are part of the solution! Limiting the planet’s temperature rise to 1.5°C would substantially reduce projected losses and damage. To achieve this, we must combat pollution at its source, protect forests, guarantee participation of people most vulnerable to the climate crisis, and develop mechanisms for adaptation, mitigation and environmental restoration.
