Lead and direct the operations of the Finance management of the regional office, in accordance with the formulated program, in order to optimally support Greenpeace campaigns, fundraising and all other operations.
Purpose of the Job:
Lead and direct the operations of the Finance management of the regional office, in accordance with the formulated program, in order to optimally support Greenpeace campaigns, fundraising and all other operations.
Lead and manage the development, execution and delivery of the Human Resources goals, strategy, policies and performance across the Greenpeace Mediterranean offices in order to enable Greenpeace Mediterranean regionally and locally, to attract, develop, reward and retain the most talented, effective and diverse people.
The person is also required to direct the sound operation of the IT management of the regional office and ensure that capacities for necessary legal support are in place we well.
Contribute to organizational leadership, vision, strategy and management, as part of the Management Team, with an understanding of change management and organizational development.
Main Responsibilities:

Finance
- Review and maintain sound financial systems and procedures.
- Prepare for and organise annual organisational budgets and audits. Submit the annual budget pack and audit pack to Greenpeace International on time. Ensure that the budgets for finance are in line with the GP Mediterranean`s priorities in these areas in order to forecast the financial performance of GP Mediterranean
- Optimize the resource planning for GP Mediterranean as a whole.
- Prepare standard income and expenditure reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) and any other financial reports requested by the Executive Director.
- Provide sufficient analysis to the Management Team each month to effectively manage cash-flow.
- Ensure that all office expenditure and payroll payments are made on time, are in compliance with internal controls and have a reasonable audit trail.
- Effectively manage petty cash accounts and fundraising income accounts.
- Oversee all office income by ensuring that income from supporters is processed effectively and that accurate records are kept.
- Reconcile income figures with the records of the fundraising department. Investigate and report significant discrepancies to the Executive Director.
- Ensure that expenditure is carried out on value for money basis and that material overspends on budgets are brought to the Executive Directors attention.
- Support the Executive Director in financial aspects leading of organizational planning, management of organizational assets and in keeping strong the business and resiliency of GP Mediterranean.
- Support the Executive Director in financial aspects of of legal restructuring from Malta to Turkey.
- Human Resources
- Lead the development and execution of Greenpeace HR strategy, plans, policies and practices in order to realize the effective development of people and their performance.
- Develop and/or improve policies on recruitment, selection, staff development, staff performance, job satisfaction, motivation, and retention
- Develop and implement relevant HR KPIs to ensure the delivery of high quality and timely HR Support and services to all GP Mediterranean’s staff
- Lead, manage, mentor and continually develop the skills and abilities of Human Resources team members. Promote knowledge sharing in the team.
- Lead the development of a strong work culture and pleasant working environment (linked to the Greenpeace values), which enables collaboration, open communication, accountability, transparency and high performance.
- Manage the relationship and the process/negotiations with the Staff Representatives to ensure a trustful and productive outcomes
- Ensure compliance to all HR requirements in order to optimize the security of the organization, the health and safety of employees and protect the public image of Greenpeace.
- Positively influence and contribute to international Greenpeace HR initiatives, providing a Regional Mediterranean perspective and contributing to overall leadership of global projects.

C. Infrastructure Design and Systems Management
- Ensure development, application and maintenance of the Information Technology policy, IT systems and databases for GP Med, within the allocated budget in order to provide an information system to effectively support the operations of GP Med.

D. Staff Management
- Lead, motivate and manage the Finance, Human Resources and IT staff in GP Mediterranean and ensure the effective performance through staff coaching, development training and performance reviews, in order to achieve the objectives of the organization.
- Build, support and manage departmental staff, encouraging innovation and responsibility.
- Communicate key departmental and organisational issues and decisions within the department.
- Office Management
- Develop & implement an office infrastructure plan that matches the organization’s needs, structure, capacity, Greenpeace brand & identity, employee welfare and safety as well as environmental foot print.
- Develop and implement necessary systems and policies that ensure common standards for office infrastructure & facilities across all offices in Mediterranean (e.g. temperatures, access to light, minimum space per person, technology requirements)
- Develop an appropriate carbon footprint budget and monitoring system
- Ensure the administration team is staffed and trained to maintain facilities and provide necessary support to staff
- Ensure that the country office of GP Mediterranean have available capacities for necessary legal advice related to the operation

D. Support to the Management Team

- As a member of a Greenpeace Mediterranean Management Team, maintain a high commitment to Greenpeace values and meeting campaign and fundraising goals.
- Through the Management Team, contribute to the development and effectiveness of GP Mediterranean. This includes: developing and implementing organisational strategies, policies and plans; addressing various issues; and supporting and communicating decisions taken by Management Team and the Executive Director.
- Maintain productive and effective working relationship with the Global Finance, People & Culture and Development Unit at Greenpeace International and with the other offices of Greenpeace.
- Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Executive Director.
And any other duties assigned by the ED.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years of experience at the level of Organizational Director with a sound knowledge of HR, Finance and accounting within a fast-paced and flexible organization
- Experience with strategic financial planning. Preferable experience of organizational legal risk management.
- Degree in Finance, or Business or equivalent
- Sound working knowledge of HR Principles and employment legislations
- Proven ability in staff management & development, recruiting and working with people from different cultures / backgrounds. Is approachable, collaborative and has a willingness to learn as well as teach.
- Proven experience with strategic planning and implementation skills
- Experience of working in a cross-cultural working environment and within an international organization
- High capacity for team work, mediation and conflict resolution
- Fluent in written and spoken English and one language of the region (e.g. Turkish or Hebrew)
- Pro-active personality who is results driven
- Able to travel and work in Greenpeace Mediterranean offices and other locations as needed.
