Amsterdam, Netherlands – In response to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling on Gaza today, Greenpeace said:
“Greenpeace is disappointed that the ICJ did not order an immediate ceasefire in Gaza today. We repeat our call for an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire – massive and urgent humanitarian aid must be delivered unimpeded to the people of Gaza now – and for the release of all hostages and all illegally detained people.
“As an organisation committed to promoting peace and the upholding of the rights and welfare of all people, we demand respect for international law – as outlined in the ICJ ruling even though it stopped short of ending the violence. An immediate and comprehensive ceasefire is the only viable option to achieve this.
“Beyond the urgent need to end the civilian suffering and ecological devastation, all parties must resume peaceful negotiations towards a lasting peace built on safety, justice and equal rights.”
