Long lanes of traffic may have become synonymous with Bengaluru in recent years, with reports of cars ownership doubling in the past year. The upcoming elections in the State of Karnataka present a crucial opportunity to actively act on disseminating private vehicles and building a city connected through public transport, cycle lanes and pedestrian lanes. Ensuring affordable, reliable, end-to-end public and non motorised transport-led networks can transform Bengaluru from what we know today.

Greenpeace India along with the Council for Active Mobility have sent in 10 recommendations to political parties, in order to achieve this vision. If added to the election manifesto, transport in the city will finally be geared towards supporting people, not vehicles.
