The Greenpeace photo competition is back, and this year we’re looking for your best photos of beautiful aquatic landscapes and amazing wildlife (both saltwater and freshwater environments are accepted). These photos can be from Canada or beyond, but must include water, and/or marine wildlife- and the top 12 photos will be featured in the 2020 Greenpeace desk calendar.
For a chance to win, please submit your photos to the Greenpeace Canada 2019 Photo Competition before Friday June 14, 2019. Winners will be announced less than one week later, on June 19! This calendar is mailed to Greenpeace supporters as a token of gratitude for supporting our environmental work throughout the year. It will be a great opportunity to not only share your favourite aquatic places and images, but an opportunity to share your photography skills or your build photography portfolio.
You can enter up to three images, and this year we’re asking you to provide a short caption (20 words max.) that includes a description, the location, and identifies the photo’s subject(s) (i.e. The sunsets on a family of snapping turtles, in Lake Simcoe, Ontario). Please note, our Greenpeace selection committee may need adapt the caption to maintain consistency.
Our Greenpeace selection committee will review the photos independent of who took them, and what level of photography experience you have. Winning photos can be the product of professional cameras to smartphones, however, all winning images must be Hi-Res.
For more details, competition rules and to register, see the details here.
Winners of the competition will receive 10 copies of the calendar, a signed letter of recognition and a Greenpeace tote bag. Additionally, people will vote for their favorite photo and crown the People’s Choice award. The winner of the People’s Choice award will also receive a prize!
This photo competition is a great opportunity to celebrate aquatic environments and the amazing wildlife that live within them! By sharing our admiration for the environment we can strengthen our connection to the planet, which can further cement our desire to protect our shared home.
We can’t wait to see your amazing photos, and look forward to another exciting Greenpeace 2019 Photo Competition! Good luck, and may the best photos win!

Dear Christy Fergusson: Congratulations on your directorship~ At present I am the director of the world friendly peace and ecology movement. My blogger friends and I have creative ideas you can harvest any time you wish. Go to human4us2.blogspot.com. I implemented the W.P.E.M. concept a short while after Tom Hunter and his friends began GreenPeace and years later, soon after the Arctic sunrise was attacked by Russian agents, I sent a letter to president Putin asking him politely to release the young GreenPeace prisoners he captured or suffer the humiliation of having his Olympic games internationally boycotted. The kids were out days after he received that email because having Ten Nobel prize winning Laureates on that petition was extremely helpful. One thing you cannot do, however, and that is to ask me for money. I continue to survive below the poverty line. Bye for now! Nelson Joseph Raglione Ex/Dir:
I got my desk calendar last year, love it and can't live without it ! How can I make sure I get the 2020 desk calendar ? I'd like to put my mom on the list too!
