Whether you’re getting moving, challenging yourself, donating your birthday, or doing something you love, you can raise money for Greenpeace to help protect the planet — and we’re here to support you!

Here are six tips to help you reach your fundraising goal and have fun doing it. And if you haven’t already, you can also check out our Tips & Tools page with more information on how to make your fundraiser a big success.

1. Make it personal

Upload a profile picture, write a message about why you’re fundraising for Greenpeace, and post updates on your fundraising page. You can even record a video on your phone and upload it to your fundraiser. Whatever inspires you to fundraise will inspire others to donate, so make your fundraiser personal.

2. Spread the message

Print a poster from our Tips & Tools download and stick it up in your office, gym or community centre. Change your background on Zoom. Print on a t-shirt and wear it proudly. There are so many creative ways you can spread the message about your fundraiser and get the word out there to potential donors. Make it public and spread the word!

3. Show how much you care

Take on a challenge by giving up something you love (like wine, coffee or dessert) or making yourself noticeable (like dressing up as a polar bear for work!). You can also encourage people to give by promising your donors something if they donate — like uploading an embarrassing photo for every donation, or sending a homemade thank you gift to each donor. Your commitment will inspire your donors to give.

4. Share updates

Updates are a great way to remind people who haven’t already given to your fundraiser to make a donation. They also keep your donors in the loop on your progress to your goal. A lot of people probably mean to give to your fundraiser, but they might forget or decide to do it another time. Updates are a great way to remind people to give and to show what progress you’re making!

5. Say thanks

Saying “thank you” will make your donors feel like heroes — which they are. So make sure to share your thanks. You can even make it public by giving your donors special shout-outs on social media. Seeing that your donors are so appreciated may even inspire others to give!

6. Have fun!

What you’re doing is so important, and so appreciated. By raising funds for Greenpeace, you’re helping to protect ancient forests, save the oceans from plastic pollution and overfishing, and take action on the climate crisis. So feel good about what you’re doing — and have fun doing it!
