In response to the summons for Jackson Wijaya to appear before the Standing Committee on Natural Resources, Shane Moffatt, Head of the Nature & Food campaign at Greenpeace Canada, said:
“The House Committee issuing a summons for Jackson Wijaya, Paper Excellence’s sole owner, to testify before the Committee is a clear indication of the urgency of this matter to the Canadian public. In only a few weeks, almost 10,000 people have signed our petition calling for Mr. Wijaya to finally testify in person, especially about his connections to the Sinar Mas / Asia Pulp & Paper empire, a globally notorious rainforest destroyer. With a crisis in our forests, the public deserves to know who really is profiting from logging across the country.”
