In reaction to the B.C. government officially tabling the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples as provincial legislation, Mike Hudema, Climate & Energy Campaigner at Greenpeace Canada said:

“This is an important step forward. We commend the leadership of the many Indigenous Nations in British Columbia that have made this moment and this monumental piece of legislation possible. Implementing the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples is an integral step in reconciliation, and Greenpeace supports the B.C. government in its full adoption — including free, prior and informed consent — and encourage the federal government and other jurisdictions to move quickly to do the same.”
