Why is Greenpeace calling me?

Here at Greenpeace Aotearoa, getting on the phone is one of the ways in which we engage with New Zealanders about vital environmental issues, our work and how we raise money for our campaigns to defend nature.

We share the stories of the issues we work on, discuss how we are defending the natural world – and how by making a donation, you can make a difference in protecting this beautiful planet.

You may be asked to set up a regular donation. While single gifts are also helpful, the ongoing act of a regular gift gives Greenpeace the financial security to commit to long-term campaigns to protect the planet. It also ensures Greenpeace can remain politically and financially independent. Greenpeace is entirely funded by individual supporters chipping in what they can – so we can always do what’s right for the Earth first.

If you do make the generous decision to become a regular donor, we may also give you a call from time to time to update you on campaigns and thank you for the positive impact you’re having on the Earth.

How do I know it’s really Greenpeace calling me?

Greenpeace phone calls will come from the following telephone numbers:

098714994
036679574
048894444
098714427

At the start of the call, the Greenpeace telefundraiser will do the following:

The caller will also be able to let you know the reason they are phoning you. We won’t cold call you, and will only call you if you have supplied your number to Greenpeace, for example, by including it when you sign a petition.

If you agree to a regular donation over the phone, we will ask you to set up a donation schedule that is flexible to the amount that works best for you.

All single gift and regular gift donations will be sent a receipt  or confirmation email after the call.

How does Greenpeace Aotearoa make sure our phone teams work to the highest standards?

All Greenpeace, telefundraisers commit to the highest of standards in their work, including adhering to a code of conduct and policies relating to people in vulnerable circumstances. We have a world-class, in-house telefundraising team so that we can recruit and train our team rigorously.

We provide ongoing training and monitor our calls to ensure all telefundraisers are adhering to these standards.

We have few complaints and overwhelmingly, the feedback is that our supporters are happy with the style and frequency of our communications.
