In a snub to international donors, the DRC government has violated a moratorium on the allocation of new industrial logging concessions in place since 2002. Now the Minister of Environmental, Conservation of Nature and Sustainable Development (MECNDD) has announced his plans to lift the suspension of the moratorium.

 Greenpeace researchers obtained the concession contracts signed in 2015 by then Minister of Environment and Sustainable Development Bienvenu Liyota Ndjoli. In this briefer, Greenpeace presents evidence that via these secret allocations, the DRC government is circumventing the moratorium, with the intention to lift it before preconditions have been met, threatening the world’s second largest rainforest.
