I am beyond thrilled to be getting ready for the upcoming Climate Justice Camp in Lebanon. As a passionate environmental and social justice activist, this is a great opportunity to connect with like-minded people and unite to create a more sustainable future.

What’s going to happen?

Picture this: a whole week immersed in a whirlwind of skill sharing, hands on workshops and trainings that will deepen our understanding of the challenges faced by people and planet, and equipping ourselves with the tools to actually do something about it. The camp will be facilitated by experts who live and breathe environmental justice, guiding us on topics like the fossil fuel phaseout, a just transition to renewable energy, sustainable agriculture and land use and nurturing creative solutions that ripple into social change.

My preparation?

Confession time, as an activist, I have a feeling that I might be the least prepared of all. Should I already have a mountain of articles and packed a suitcase full of eco-friendly gear? Right now, my idea of preparation revolves around wondering if I need a converter for my chargers. Meeting 450 experts in your field from around the world can be intimidating, but I am confident that my fellow green warriors will have my back.

Great Expectations

I have high expectations for the Climate Justice Camp. I am not only looking forward to getting a deeper understanding of the environmental issues that are affecting the world, but also look at the specific issues and solutions that are relevant to the Global South. The best part? Connecting with other young passionate earth defenders who, like me, are committed to making a positive impact on the planet.

At the end of the camp, my goal is to leave feeling energised and empowered to take action toward creating a more sustainable and just world. I hope to bring back what I have learned to my community and inspire others to get involved in environmental activism. If I can do it, anyone can.

Overall, my excitement levels are off the charts for this once in a lifetime opportunity to learn, connect and take action towards climate justice. Here’s to a week that could change everything, for us and for the planet we hold dear. I can’t wait to see what the week has in store!
