Mohamed Seedat, Greenpeace Volunteer and Activist

I joined Greenpeace Africa in 2019 as a volunteer in an effort to “give back” not only to my people and my country, but rather to the earth as a whole. This beautiful, majestic, life-sustaining planet we as humans and so many other species call home deserves a “voice” to let the human race know the harmful effects our lifestyles have on it. I was touched to have met so many people of different and varying backgrounds at Greenpeace, all of whom are united by their love for the environment and their passion for preserving this beautiful planet, and I believe that this group of people can be that “voice” that mother earth needs.

Clean air is what everyone needs! The action to raise awareness around air pollution was a truly bold and incredible one. A public event in the presence of thousands of spectators was the ideal scene to voice our concerns. Risks were taken but the outcome was fruitful. This win was a big one for Greenpeace as a whole and a personal one for me too, as it resonated with something close to heart, and something I am passionate about, which is environmental conservation. I am honored to be part of Greenpeace, and I intend to continue to join their efforts in sustaining the environment and educating others about reducing the impact we as humans on a whole have on the environment, as well as the steps we as individuals can take to mitigate these effects and preserve this beautiful planet we call home. I am grateful for my experience during this action and the opportunity given to me by Greenpeace to be a part of this cause. I am confident that continued actions like these will raise awareness and bring solutions to the crises we face as a global population.
